Day 20 – Say Yes or No with All Your Heart
How To Do This: Practice saying “yes” or “no” consciously. Regardless of how “small” or “big”, simple or complex, important or unimportant the question is, give yourself the gift of a few seconds or more, to breathe and tune in with yourself before you answer. If you don’t know what to say, don’t just give a polite answer that you will regret later. Be honest about it and say “I need more time to think about this, I will get back to you as soon as possible or as soon as I have an answer”.
Observe the fear of being considered rude or a bad person when you say No. Especially Nice Girls and Nice Guys will benefit from this.
My experience with this: I’ve been under the spell of the Nice Girl Syndrome for many years. Or I should present myself with: “Hi, I am Raluca and I am a Nice Girl. I have been saying Yes or No consciously for 2 years, 5 months and 14 days” 🙂
When it comes to the art of saying yes or no I think this quote from Paulo Coelho captures its essence beautifully.

What I’ve noticed is that when I pay attention to as many moments when I need to say Yes or No throughout my day, I develop my muscle of tuning in with my gut feeling.
And then when I am in a situation that my mind considers “big” or “important” it’s easier to cut through the layers of fear and decide without going nuts in the process.
So that’s my take on today’s exercise, on our 20th day together of the 30 days challenge to reconnect with our gut feeling.
